96.5% is our editorial cut-off, not an industry standard. It is high enough to be above the middle of the range published for modern video slots and low enough to include a meaningful set of games. A game listed here published that figure; it did not earn a rating from us.
What RTP actually describes
Theoretical return to player is the percentage built into the game's maths and confirmed through simulation and testing, as distinct from the experienced return a player sees over a limited run of spins, which is shaped by volatility and normal streaks1.
